If you're looking for white sand beaches, popular restaurants and fewer crowds, we've got just the place! St. Thomas's Southside-the stretch of coastline between Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook-is filled with hidden gems that many visitors to the island miss. We're detailing our favorite places to relax, grab a bite and stay on the quieter side of St. Thomas.

Southside Beaches

Trying to avoid cruise-ship crowds? These Southside beaches are beautiful and often less crowded than Magens Bay and Sapphire Beach.

Morningstar Beach

Morningstar Beach on St. Thomas's Southside

Morningstar Beach is home to the Buoy Haus Beach Resort, but don't worry-you don't need to be a guest to enjoy this expansive stretch of white sand.

Parking: Parking for non-hotel guests is free but limited. Arrive early if you're traveling during the busy season, and pay close attention to signage to ensure you're not parking in a guest-only lot.

Amenities: You can rent paddle boats, kayaks, chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear and more from the watersports booth. Grab a meal or a drink at Sugarfin or the Sandbar x Isla Blue.

LimeTree Beach

Limetree Beach on St. Thomas's Southside.

Smaller than Morningstar Beach but just as stunning, LimeTree beach is located near the Wyndham Limetree Beach resort. It's a great place to snorkel, search for creatures among the rocks or sunbathe alongside one of the beach's many iguanas.

Parking: There's plentiful free parking in the large, well-lit parking lot outside the hotel grounds. Simply follow the trail past the tennis courts to reach the beach.

Amenities: The Longboard restaurant looks out over the water and offers small plates, tacos, poke bowls and sushi. Cabana rentals are available.

Bolongo Bay

Bolongo Bay

Bolongo Bay Beach offers sun, snorkeling and easy access to the recently reopened Iggie's Beach Bar.

Parking: There is limited parking for non-hotel guests. A taxi service is a good option if you're visiting the beach during the busy season.

Amenities: Grab a bite to eat at The Oasis restaurant or at Iggie's Beach Bar and Grill, which offers live music and reopened in late 2025 for the first time since the 2017 hurricanes.

Where to Eat

In addition to the beachfront restaurants and bars we've mentioned above, there are a few more can't-miss spots on St. Thomas's Southside.

PRIME at Paradise Point

Located in Havensight, PRIME is the perfect spot for anyone celebrating a special occasion or just having a treat-yourself moment. They offer a wide selection of steaks and custom cocktails in an upscale atmosphere.

Mim's Seaside Bistro

Mim's is a slice of heaven for seafood lovers, with a menu that includes house specialties like coconut curry lobster, grilled swordfish and wahoo island-style. While you dine, you'll be treated to stunning sunsets over Bolongo Bay and live entertainment.

The Tuck Shop

Located along the road to the East End, the Tuck Shop is a locals-favortite deli with near-perfect reviews. Grab a sandwich for a beach and don't forget to pick up one of their famous macadamia nut cookies.
