Today on our blog, we’re featuring one of our favorite local establishments, Fish Bar. It represents so much of what we love about the Virgin Islands - it’s full of flavor, color and style, and the doors are open to everyone. A Taste of the Islands
Our goal in opening Fish Bar was to create a space that welcomed all: off the beach, or dressed up for a night out, casual but clean - with elevated dishes, cocktails, but also rum + cokes, and fish sandwiches (on house-made buns, of course.) We want to have something that everyone will enjoy. We want everyone who walks in to feel welcome and like they are a part of our Fish Bar family.
The most gratifying thing about Fish Bar is having guests walk in and run into longtime friends - it feels like the TV show “Cheers.” Everyone knows everyone. Everyone is excited to see everyone. We will never lose sight of the sense of community around us on the Northside and the love we have been shown opening up in such a tight-knit community.
Favorite Fish Bar Tails + Bites
The Green Flash: This cocktail will have you thinking, “Am I drinking a fresh green juice or am I catching a buzz?” It does both. It’s made with tequila, fresh avocado purée and cucumber juice that we press in house daily, shaken with fresh cilantro, and named after the infamous green flash at sunset - if you know, you know. Our cocktail program was created by owner, Tyler Beckstead. We recommend sipping through the menu responsibly because each cocktail is very unique, and showcases the variety of fresh juices and love put into our bar program.
Crudos: The crudo section of the menu gives our guests the option to choose their fish and the style it’ll be prepared in. There was so much thought put into these dishes, and they are beautifully prepared by executive chef & partner Kenny Claxton, and executive sous chef Yenifer Ortiz. They aim to keep everything as local as possible, we are honored to have built relationships with local fishermen and farmers early on and are so thankful for them.
