Your Guide to Sapphire Beach

Welcome to Sapphire Beach, the gem of St. Thomas! Although many visitors head straight to Magens Bay, we think this less-busy beach is one of the most beautiful - and fun - ways to spend a day on St. Thomas. Let's dive into why Sapphire Beach is a must-visit destination.

Why Sapphire Beach:

Sapphire Beach lives up to its name, with crystal-clear blue water fringed by powdery sand. The gentle entry and small waves make it a great place for kids learning to swim and snorkel. We also love the convenience factor. There are bathrooms onsite, several places to eat, and lounge chair and snorkel rentals right on the sand. Best of all, this beach gets less cruise ship traffic than other popular beaches on St. Thomas. Come early and you might have a stretch of sand to yourself, or arrive around lunchtime when the music from the bar picks up and the locals filter in.

What to Do:

As we mentioned above, Sapphire Beach is a great place for children or beginning swimmers. The far right side of the beach is good for snorkeling, and the protected bay keeps the waves small and makes it a great place to rent a paddleboard. If a day of relaxation is just what the doctor ordered, rent a beach chair or get to Sapphire early and stake out a spot in the shade. If you’re feeling adventurous, rent a jet ski and cruise over to nearby Coki and Lindquist beaches.

Where to Eat:

If you arrive in the morning, stop in at The Beach Buzz for a cup of coffee or one of their refreshing fruit smoothies. For lunch, we recommend a burger at Sapphire Beach Bar or a slice of pizza (try the chicken, bacon and pesto Rip Curl) at Paradise Pie. For dinner, dine under the stars at SeaSalt or make the short drive into neighboring Red Hook. We also love Sudi’s Caribbean Bar & Grille, just off the beach in Sapphire Village and home of the original Bushwacker.
