4 Low-Key St. Thomas Beaches

Updated: Sep 10, 2023

St. Thomas is known for famous beaches like Magens Bay and Coki, but sometimes venturing slightly off the beaten path can lead you to some of the most beautiful places on the island. We’ve listed a few of our favorite spots for a quiet beach day. What St. Thomas beaches would you add to this list?

LINDQUIST BEACH (EAST END)

Pink sand, perfect water

Lindquist Beach on St. Thomas

Fees: $2 for parking and $5 per person

Amenities: Bathrooms, Showers

Nestled next to the popular Coki and Sapphire Beaches is a lesser-known gem: Lindquist Beach. The water at Lindquist Bay is pristine and no, it’s not your imagination - the sand really is slightly pink. The beach is part of the Smith Bay Park nature preserve and is an ideal spot for swimming and exploring tide pools. There are no dining spots at Lindquist, so remember to pack a lunch!

SECRET HARBOUR BEACH (EAST END)

Good food, great snorkeling

Secret Harbour Beach on St. Thomas

Conveniently close to: Shoreline Villa and Waters Edge

Fees: No entrance fee

Amenities: Sunset Grille, The Patio and Beach Bar

Don’t let its size fool you. Secret Harbour might be smaller than other St. Thomas beaches, but it packs a big punch in the form of some of the best snorkeling on the island. This beach is adjacent to the Secret Harbour resort, meaning you can take advantage of the resort restaurant, bar and chair rentals while enjoying this free public beach.

BREWERS BAY (WEST END)

Swimming, shells and sea turtles

Brewer's Bay Beach on St. Thomas

Conveniently close to: Lovenlund Bay Villa and Yellowbird Villa are a 15-minute drive away

Fees: $0

Amenities: Bathrooms and Showers

If you’re looking for a sunset spot all to yourself, you can’t go wrong at Brewers Bay. This northside beach is part of the University of the Virgin Islands campus. It’s a popular weekend hangout for locals, but during the week you may have it mostly to yourself. It’s a great spot to relax in the shade or spot sea turtles, who come here to munch on the seagrass just off shore. There are no restaurants here, so bring lunch or keep your eyes peeled for one of the local food trucks.

LIMETREE BEACH (SOUTHSIDE)

Sunsets and fine dining

Limetree Beach, St. Thomas

Conveniently close to: Villa Breizh, Villa Marbella, Villa Marie and Island Time

Fees: $0

Amenities: Bathrooms, Limetree Pool Bar and Market, Lanai restaurant

Looking for a quiet place to catch up on your beach reading or relax in the sun? Limetree Beach is just the place. This Southside beach is rarely crowded and is a great place to catch up on your beach reading or enjoy a nap under an umbrella. You might even see a couple tying the knot - the secluded beach is a popular spot for weddings. Swimmers may want to bring a pair of water shoes to help them navigate the rocks and coral just off shore.
